You may have social anxiety disorder Social anxiety disorder affects millions of individuals around the world and varies greatly from individual to person. However, it is critical to know that if you find social settings unbearable, you can get help. It’s hard to pin down the exact symptoms of social anxiety disorder, which is why seeing your doctor is so vital. It is advised to go and see a doctor if your fears contain the following: fear that everyone is looking at you, fear of making mistakes, fear of judgement, fear that everyone is better than you, fear of humiliating yourself, or fear that everyone sees your flaws. These sort of fears sometimes cause panic attacks, and always lead to an increase in anxiety. Anxiety may lead to shaking, a pounding heart, blushing, sweating, stammering, nausea, and dizziness.

Some people get confused between shyness and social anxiety. In certain social situations you mat feel shy. But social anxiety in fact physically debilitates you, where as shyness does not. In fact, social anxiety disorder may take over a person’s life if left untreated. This disorder usually starts from childhood or early adulthood and can affect everyone, regardless of race, religion, or gender, although women are more likely to develop this disorder than men.

Social anxiety disorder is often found in conjunction with other anxiety disorders. A common occurence with a social anxiety sufferer, is to try and treat the disorder with alcohol or drugs, which will in turn lead to substance abuse. The easiest and only way to treat social anxiety disorder is to see your doctor. The combination of medication and therapy can aid your recovery from social anxiety disorder and lead to you living a happy and healthy life. Cognitive-behavioral therapy will help you control your condition so that you will be able to teach yourself how to calm down and become less anxious in specific situations. Medications can be short or long term and can work to block particular inhibitors. Together, you can your doctor can find the perfect treatment for you so that you can take back control of your life. Maybe you will never be able to eliminate social anxiety from your life, but you can get to the stage where it has less of an impact on you.
