Elephants are classified as endangered animal by the International conservation community The forests and wildlife reserves that are teeming elephants have become the major tourist attraction. Ironically there has been a consistent decline in the number of elephants due to illegal poaching all over the world.. Uganda, a small east African state had over 30,000 elephants during 1960 and the numbers were significantly reduced since a large number of elephants migrated to nearby Congo, during the harsh regime of Idi Amin- then army general. Today, Uganda has only 5000 elephants in its wild reserves and parks. The population is growing but unless of course preserved with persistence the great mammal will extinguish from the surface of Earth.

Kampala, the capital of Uganda has many hotels, hostels and apartments for tourist to enjoy their stay. Kampala is now a city of merged people from many regions of the world. People from all over the world visit Kampala on business and for amusement. Visibly the place may not be attractive but the capital city is rich in tradition and has several international eateries, hotels and apartments. Although, the city is costly as compared to other places in Uganda. Accommodations for visitors are costly in Hotels. But if you are on vacation tour then it is wise to rent an apartment in Kampala, to be inside the budget and take advantage of a homely atmosphere.

There are moderate priced hotels that cost around $30 a night. The other alternative for tourists is to plan their stay in guest houses which are popular and less costly. Staying in hostel with $10 per night is a better option, if you are alone. There are hotels available in the medium range charging $70 to $150 a night.

The apartments are well provided with modern facilities and consist of large bedrooms, spacious living room and dining space, equipped kitchen, cozy bathrooms with towels and linens. Apartments in Kampala are particular in providing modern gadgets like telephone, television, internet and other home appliances. Many apartment provide laundry facility and car parking. You can enjoy a homely atmosphere in apartments and cook your choicest food. The costs are economical and reasonable and suits to every taste and budget.
