Like humans and most animals, Guinea Pigs enjoy a variety of different, colored toys to play with. Toys for Guinea Pigs can help prevent depression and boredom. Many cheap toys can come apart leaving hazardous small pieces in the cage.

Some have caused serious damage with vet care required. It's good to experiment and give them variety. Keep in mind that most guinea pigs will ignore most toys, usually the simpler the better. Be creative, but think safety first. Some pigs love one type of toy, others will ignore them. You will find that some guinea pigs will get bored or frustrated after a while.

Regardless, change out the toys, houses, and locations of toys and houses frequently. Keep toys, and especially houses and food dishes if possible, away from the walls and corners of the guinea pig cage.
You can also make home made Guinea Pig toys out of the simplest of things, such as an old Ice-Cream container or toilet paper rolls. Anything as long as the Guinea Pig can not choke on it.

Guinea Pigs, like people can not produce their own source of vitamin C - so the food that they eat, must contain a high amount of vitamin C.

For Guinea Pig's to have the correct amount of vitamins and nutrition, make sure that they have at least one cup of grain a day, with half a cup of vegetables and fruit. Also, hay and grass is an essential in a Guinea Pig's diet and should be fed to them on a daily source. Guinea Pigs are herbivores and require a high fiber diet. Suitable grasses include clover, buffalo grass, & oat grass. Guinea pigs also enjoy dandelion, milk thistle & a variety of fresh herbs.

Since Guinea Pigs are very messy eaters, they stand on their bowls and sometimes if the bowls are heavy or large enough they will tip over and food will spill all over the bedding, not only will this make your Guinea Pigs cage get messy, but it will waste their grain. To prevent this from happening, you need to buy a heavy duty food bowl for your Guinea Pig.
