When you are hiring a custom home builder, one of the concerns you need to have is how often are they on site. This is important because the custom home builder is building a home that is customized exactly to what you want. This means that they are not like a production home builder who creates a large number of homes in the same manner, meaning it is easy for their workers to put the homes together. With a custom home builder, every home is different. For that reason, one of the most important questions you can ask the home builder is how often they are on site.

It is a well-known fact that when the boss is around, the workers are going to work harder because they know they are being watched. When the boss is gone and there is no authority figure telling workers to make sure they work at a certain pace, there is the possibility of workers slowing down, or even slacking off. This costs you money in time and it delays things for the custom home builder. It is why it is so important that you talk with your custom home builder and ask them how often they are going to be on-site.

If the custom home builder tells you that they are currently building several homes and will only be on site once per week, that can be a problem. That means that the pace of work will be much slower since the workers are only going to be supervised once out of every five days.

If the custom home builder is going to be on site for four of the five days, that is much better and you know that the amount of work that gets done will be much higher. However, just because a custom home builder is not on site, that does not mean work is not done. They may have a supervisor who acts in authority for them. That way, they can be away from site, but the still have someone acting in charge which keeps things moving along nicely.

Do not be afraid to ask your custom home builder how often they are going to be at site because that is going to give you a clear indication just how quickly your custom home is going to be done. It is your home, and you should have it done on time for you and your family.
